About Us
The Echo Park ASA helps families in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles find free and affordable after-school programs for their kids.
Our Mission
Our mission is to spread information about free and affordable after-school programs for children in the Echo Park, Los Angeles area that engages kids in fun activities and gets them excited about learning outside of the classroom.
Who We Are
We are four students at Sequoyah High School in Pasadena. We started this project about a year ago for our school's Social Innovation Program (SIP). We understand how difficult it can be to navigate finding the right affordable after-school program and are dedicated to making the process less stressful and more accessible for parents.
Over the past year, we have worked to educate ourselves about early childhood education and what engages children. We have volunteered and visited Los Angeles Family School, The Oaks School, and Heart of L.A. to research what activities early education programs offer that work well with kids. We then did research into programs in the Echo Park neighborhood that offer free or affordable childcare and compiled this information into our website. Our site hopes to help Echo Park parents find affordable programs for their kids that are in close proximity to their homes and help relieve some of the stress of finding child care.
